How To Apply Siebel CRM License Keys

Once you have installed your Siebel CRM environment, review Siebel 7 Bookshelf Applications Administration Guide - Chapter 2 "Getting Started", and then follow these directions to insert these initial license keys.

Entering the First License Keys

Before you enter a license key, you must install the Siebel Gateway Server, Siebel Server, Siebel Database Server, and either the Siebel Dedicated Web Client or Siebel Tools (You can enter a license key using either the Siebel Dedicated Web Client or Siebel Tools).

  1. Start either Siebel Dedicated Web Client or Siebel Tools.

  2. Log in as the system administrator and connect to the database server. Typically, you do this by entering SADMIN as the login name and SADMIN as the password, and choosing Server in the Connect to drop-down list.

    If you are the first to log in to the Siebel Dedicated Web Client after a new Siebel installation, you will get the error message "There is no valid License Key in the database." Click OK.

    If you are the first to log in to Siebel Tools after a new Siebel installation, you will get the error message "No valid License Codes were found in the database." Click Add Key.

  3. The License Code dialog box appears. Enter the license key strings (all-inclusive or product-specific).

  4. Click OK.

  5. Close the application. Please note that you must restart your Siebel server(s) after applying new license keys in order for them to become effective.

  6. You can now connect to your Siebel database using any Siebel 7 client, including the web client, dedicated web client, or Tools client.

Caution: Be sure to enter the all-inclusive license key or the Siebel Tools license key first. If you enter an optional module license key without having a Siebel Business base application license key already entered, you will get an error message. The error occurs because the Home Page view is required to start Siebel Business base applications, and Home Page views are not included in optional module Configuration Codes.

Additional Product-Specific License Key Entry

After entering the initial license key, you can add other license keys. You can do this immediately if your purchase included more than one product module, or you can select and add license keys as your organization purchases more Siebel applications or optional modules.
