How to Generate Software Protection Codes and Install Keys for New System Installs, PTFs and Upgrades

  • If performing a new system install (adding new system codes to a currently installed environment) or performing an upgrade or reinstall (going to a new JD Edwards World release level):

    • Verify the current licensing information entered in your environment. Click here for instructions on verifying current licensing information entered on your system.

    • If the current value of the expiration date is 2009 or earlier, you do not need to generate a new code.

    • If the current value of the expiration date is 2010 or later, make a note of the current values, but you will need to generate a new code with an expiration date of 2009 or earlier.

    • Note: Entering a new code during the install process will update the JDE System Values of your environment. If you have generated and entered a new code with an expiration date of 2009 or earlier, the existing values that you noted above should be reentered after the install or reinstall process is complete.

  • If performing a PTF (cumulative upgrade or patch install delivered on tape):

Note: You will need this process only if you receive a screen during the lodrun process or validation of your plan requesting the SPC and System 00 Install Key.

    • This process does not update your JD Edwards System Values, so it will not be necessary to check your current values or to reenter them later.

    • Enter a date of today or tomorrow to generate the new code.

    • Enter blanks into the licensed users field.

  • Enter your contact information.

  • Enter the Serial Number of your iSeries. Click here for instructions on obtaining the serial number of your iSeries (AS400). This is an 8 character alphanumeric value with no delimiters or spaces. Leading zeros may be omitted.

  • Leave Licensed Number of Users blank. Do not enter zeros or any value in this field for World Express. See the appropriate scenario above for possible exceptions.

  • Enter the appropriate JD Edwards World release, either A73 or A81.

  • After you complete the fields on the screen, click the Generate Keys button located in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

  • Note the values in the Software Protection Code and Install Key fields.
